Shinji Ikari
Shinji Ikari, the Third Children, is the main character of this story. He is a quiet boy who is afraid to live but even more afraid to die. His father, Gendou Ikari, abandoned him when his mother died. He never saw his father again, until one day his father ask (forced) him to pilot Eva-01 Test Type. He doesn't want to do it, but he have to. By piloting Eva-01 he can also know his father more and get close to him. He is a bit clumsy on socializing with other people and lacks self-confidence, but with the help of Misato Katsuragi, his guardian and also some friends he made since he moved into Tokyo-3, he can learn how to open himself up to the world and to others.
